Two New Bridges for Malton & Norton -
For walking, wheeling and horse riding

Why?
To better connect the people and amenities of Malton and Norton.
To enable active travel and independence - supporting mental and physical health.
To reduce accident risk, congestion, & air pollution at the level crossing and in both towns.
To support local jobs and businesses by improving access and the environment.
To reduce the carbon footprint of travel, in support of essential local/international targets.
These bridges have been suggested many times in wider local public consultations.
To support the case for further improvements to active travel infrastructure.
1. Reinstate the former railway bridge over the river Derwent, near Malton Rugby Club
How?
1a, discussion with landowners, local people, and relevant authorities.
1b, form task & finish partnership of interested & proactive individuals; identify skills/agree roles.
1c, raise funds for a feasibility study, including connection into existing, or new, onward routes.
1d, raise funds for detailed design work, with connection into existing, or new, onward routes.
1e, raise funds for installation.
1f, install, promote, look to the future.
2. A new bridge and a 2nd platform at Malton Railway Station
How?
2a, discussion with landowners, local people, and relevant authorities.
2b, form task & finish partnership of interested & proactive individuals; identify skills/agree roles.
2c, raise funds for a feasibility study, including connection into existing, or new, onward routes.
2d, raise funds for detailed design work, with connection into existing, or new, onward routes.
2e, raise funds for installation.
2f, install, promote, look to the future.
